A NEWFOUND PASSION

After serving in the Air Force in California, John Wendorff returned home to Kansas City and sold cars part-time while studying to be an accountant. He soon discovered his passion was in sales and went to work for a business forms printer.

1978


TPMCO IS BORN

After developing a lucrative accounting system for ERA Real Estate, John embraced the challenge of becoming his own boss. Seeing an opportunity, he launched his own marketing company, with ERA as his very first client. After hiring an editor, a customer service rep and a part-time data entry clerk, John began publishing newsletters for real estate agents and started building a loyal customer base among other national franchises.

A FAMILY BUSINESS

One of John’s first employees, an editor named Elizabeth, soon caught his eye. Employer and employee eventually became husband and wife, and the duo’s relationship has grown and flourished along with the company. While John has tackled the entrepreneurial growth of the business, Elizabeth’s passions lie behind the scenes – creating, designing and perfecting products.

BUILDING THE FUTURE

Although ever-evolving technology has introduced many digital marketing options over the years, John and Elizabeth’s faith in direct mail products hasn’t wavered. As Elizabeth puts it, there’s just something special about receiving mail with your name on it.

It’s just so easy to hit the delete button as rapidly as possible when going through your email, but at least with a printed postcard or newsletter, you have to touch it. Even if it ends up in the trash, you’re going to skim the mailing because you want to see what it says and if it’s valuable. If it catches your eye, you might set it down and say, ‘I want to come back to this later.’ As long as people still enjoy getting a greeting card or a letter in their mailbox, print marketing will continue to be successful.

We believe in giving back to our local Kansas City community. The organizations we choose to support offer individuals a “hand up” rather than a handout. Check out the great work these nonprofits are doing!
